ANA & ELSA
FOR  ADOPTION in CORNWALL/DEVON

Vetting process applies. Adoption donation of £450 (includes both dogs not just one) applies.

Meet & Greet will gladly be arranged after vetting process.

ANA & ELSA

Their names were inspired by the characters in the Disney movie Frozen ♥

Mixed breed (possibly Terrier x Barak Hound)

Ana & Elsa are twin sisters and need to be rehomed together. The girls have never been apart from each other in their entire lives. Super cute, fun, energetic with a sense for adventure and captivating in their 2 different personalities which compliment each other and fit like two pieces in a jigsaw puzzle.

We would be looking for a settled home in a quiet setting with an adequate size garden for them to play in. The garden ideally needs to have grass areas and a fence height of 5ft please. The girls need two people who are dedicated to the dogs. The new adopters need to be fit and able to give the twins the active life they would love and were previously used to.

Ana & Elsa's current owner had to make the heart breaking and very difficult decision to do what’s best for the girls.
The girls had a lovely home in Cornwall where they can still stay for a short while. However, the reason they are being surrendered into our care is that the current owner is unable to cope well enough any longer due to a relationship break up and unexpected ill health. The drastic change is now resulting in unwanted behaviours by the twins which we are confident will revert back to how they were once in the right home. The girls did great when there were still two people to walk and train them.

If needed at any stage and for however long, help would be available free of charge by our canine coach.

The girls were found as abandoned pups on the streets of Bosnia. The Bark Ark rescue shelter owner’s wife brought them up until old and strong enough to survive in the shelter where they lived for the first 4 years of their lives.

Here are there profiles. Photos and video below ♥

ANA – the tomboy personality, more outgoing and confident in many ways than her sister Elsa who follows Ana’s example.

Size: 11kg small/medium

Sex: female

Age: 6

Neutered: yes

Vaccinated: yes

Microchipped: yes

Child friendly: not tested but was never any problems when out and about

Dog friendly:
Used to live happily in a very busy shelter in Bosnia for the first 4 years of her life, sharing a space with an ever changing array of dogs. Nowadays friendly with some dogs, but not all. Please see more info below.

Cat friendly:
not tested in a home environment, but very interested in chasing cats outdoors

Temperament:
Ana loves people and has never had an incident with any person. She is confident with people and will come to everyone for cuddles.

Can sometimes be reactive towards dogs and sometimes plays nicely/ignores them. Initially was reactive towards family dog but now has settled nicely with her.

Recent changes:
Was ok before, but due to a dramatic change in their owner’s health combined with a relationship break up which resulted in now only one person in the current home, the dynamics and time that is given to the girls with regards to training has drastically changed. Subsequently Ana has become less confident in her owner and has started taking matters into her own paws. She can currently be reactive towards dogs, especially when lead walked. Ana has never actually bitten a dog. But she has nipped another dog out on a walk which wasn’t a major incident, but it clearly shows that she needs more confidence building and training. Something which sadly isn’t possible in her current home.

Has previously done very well with clicker training and lead reactivity. Needs a confident and experienced owner to continue her training.

Behaviour/Training needs:
Ana needs a confident and ideally rescue dog experienced owner to help her with her occasional reactivity towards other dogs. She will walk beautifully on the lead on her own but needs some work to walk nicely with her sister.
Clicker trained which works very well and needs to be continued. Recall is good with a whistle, but not perfect.

House trained: yes, ideally needs a good sized garden

Health:
Vet checked, vaccinated, wormed. Prior to travel tested negative for heartworm, lyme disease, anaplasmosis and ehrlichia. Brucella and Leishman test will be done by her current vet.

Rescue Story/Place:
Ana was found with her sister Elsa as abandoned pups on the streets in Bosnia. They were raised by the shelter owner’s wife until old enough to survive in the shelter where they lived for the first 4 years of their lives until coming to the UK 2 years ago in summer 2020. After some time at Paws2Freedom and after that in home foster for a few months they found an amazing home where they were very loved and lived a wonderful life. But sadly circumstances changed where a break up and major health challenges now sadly mean that the twins are looking for a new home.

ELSA – the sweet girly slightly shy personality who tends to follow Ana’s guidance

Size: small/medium

Sex: female

Age: 6

Neutered: yes

Vaccinated: yes

Microchipped: yes

Child friendly: not tested but no issues on walks when meeting children

Dog friendly:
Yes. Used to live in a very busy shelter in Bosnia for the first 4 years of her life, with an ever changing array of dogs and she likes to interact with other dogs.

Cat friendly:
not tested in a home environment, but outdoors VERY interested in chasing cats

Temperament:
Elsa is more timid than her sister and takes more time to warm towards people. She has a very gentle temperament with people and loves affection once she gets to know you.

Elsa was always very keen to play with almost every dogs. However, lately she will join in with her sister on walks together in reactivity towards other dogs which is a new behaviour. The new family needs to work on Ana in particular so that Elsa can follow a better example. Paws2Freedom is more than happy to provide help with this free of charge.

Behaviour/Training needs:
Elsa will only go to the toilet in a grass garden on her lead or on a walk. She will need help with her very recent reactivity towards dogs when on lead walks as mentioned before (help available). Elsa, like Ana walks beautifully on a solo walk but needs work on walking together.

House trained: yes, but needs a good size garden with grass.

Health:
Vet checked, vaccinated, wormed. Prior to travel tested negative for heartworm, lyme disease, anaplasmosis and ehrlichia. Brucella and Leishman test will be done by her current vet.
