BOBBY
FOR  ADOPTION in CORNWALL/DEVON

BOBBY - Mixed Breed

FOR ADOPTION IN CORNWALL/DEVON

Bobby is a sweet cute name meaning 'Bright Fame'. A little dog with a big cuddly personality. What a fitting name for this little darling whose nickname in the shelter was Squirrel!

Size: 25cm approx shoulder height

Sex: male

Age: 2 years approx (April 23)

Neutered: yes

Vaccinated: yes

Microchipped: yes

Child friendly: yes, but Bobby would prefer older children who are dog experienced.

Dog friendly: yes, Bobby loves to play with other dogs and would prefer a home with another dog if possible who is as playful as him.

Livestock: most likely, but not fully assessed

Cat friendly: Bobby has met dog savvy cats and was ok with them and he his currently fostered in a home with a cat who is also used to dogs, but of course there is never a guarantee if this can be said for all cats. A realistic and experienced home who have introduced the two species before would be preferred if cats are present

Behaviour/Temperament/Unique traits/ Training needs:

As virtually all overseas shelter dogs do, Bobby needs to be introduced to life as we know it. He is already coping well as he is quite a confident little chap.

General training has to be expected, but he is very bright and eager to please. He does not seem to be used to lead walking much. Here he had the field to play and run around in. He is now experiencing lead walks and his foster mum has noticed him barking at dogs in the distance. We are assuming it is borne from frustration not to be able to get to them as Bobby adores playing and saying 'Hi' to other dogs. His foster mum will start working with Bobby on this.

Bobby loves to play with toys and adores a raw bone. He also loves a stuffed Kong. We suspect that Bobby has had a home before before ending up on the streets. It's just something in the way he deals with home life and did not need to learn that his business is best done outdoors.

He is a very friendly and cuddly dog. 'Kind to all living things' the shelter owner in Bosnia described him.

In the Bosnian shelter they called him 'The Squirrel' as he can climb over and up virtually anything if he puts his mind to it. Hence his home and garden must be very secure. No fence types which can serve as ladders or plant pots or other items that can serve as hop-ups as he may or may not try. Bobby was with us here for quite a few weeks and he never tried to escape. Most likely because he got lots of attention and play time with other dogs. He has recently moved into a foster home and is really happy there. In the very beginning he tried to slip under the gate once, but not tried anything since. However, until fully bonded with a person and feeling totally settled in a new home, as a precaution we ask to keep a trailing line/lead on Bobby for however long it takes.

House trained: yes. Bobby has been clean here and also in his foster home.

Blood tested/Health: Tested negative for Brucellosis, Leishmans, Heartworm, Lyme Disease, Anaplasmosis, Ehrlichia before travel and passed his general pre-travel health check. He has since passed his general health check here in the UK too.

Rescue story: Bobby was picked up as a stray and put into the Bosnian shelter. He didn’t cope well and tried to get out. Bobby was very stressed and unhappy in the shelter and is a dog who does not take well to being kenneled.

Ideal Home: Bobby would love an active home which is sympathetic to the needs of rescue dogs. He would enjoy a safe grassed garden to play, run around and lounge in. Bobby would love to live in a home where he will be given lots of time for training, play, love and attention. A resident dog as a play mate and role model, who can keep up with is zest of life would be perfect.

Vetting process applies. Meet & Greet will gladly be arranged after the application was approved.
