HENRY - Mixed Breed

Little Henry here is such a sweetheart. Such a kind soul who was found in the same woods together with Lucy at the time. Where he was initially in the shelter he took care of some puppies as if he was their mum (see photos). Such a darling little chap.

Size: 40cm approx shoulder height

Sex: male

Age: 3-4 years approx (Feb 23)

Neutered: yes

Vaccinated: yes

Microchipped: yes

Child friendly: yes, Henry is brilliant with teenagers here. Not tested with young ones.

Dog friendly: yes. Henry would really like living with another dog as a role model and playmate or have lots of doggy friends outside of home life.

Cat friendly: Has had contact with dog savvy cats while in Bosnia and he was ok with them. Not tested with cats here as there are non where Henry lives.

Behaviour/Temperament/Unique traits/ Training needs:

Sweet natured and kind. When he was in the shelter he looked after puppies there as if he was their mum. Endearing

and heart warming. Henry has got such a caring nature.

Henry is a lovely dog. He loves a cuddle and to sit on your lap.

He’s house trained and really likes to play with other dogs.

He walks beautifully and is nice in the house.

He sleeps in a crate and never barks.

He needs training in recall and is a fun and happy little dog.

When Henry was a stray and after that in the shelter there was never enough of anything, especially food. He should be fed separately if there is another dog around to avoid any stress. Henry is not a fussy eater.

Henry needs slow introducing to a more busy outdoor life if required as for now he is only enjoying the quiet countryside and resident garden/field. We have not tested Henry in a town situation.

House trained: yes. Henry lives in the house.

Blood tested/Health: Tested negative for Brucellosis, Leishmans, Heartworm, Lyme Disease, Anaplasmosis, Ehrlichia and passed his general pre-travel health check. He has since been health checked in the UK and was found in good general health, but needs to gain a bit of weight as he was very skinny on arrival. Henry has recently been wormed which should benefit as well.

Henry was found with his left hind leg paw missing, as well as some toes on his front paw which isn't obvious unless you look for it. None of this holds him back at all and he's just a happy chap feeling and acting like every other dog. It is a very old injury which must healed on its own. Henry is still using the leg to support himself and is finding it quite useful hence we didn't opt for amputation. Future adopters have to mindful not to take him on regular long pavement walks. Henry does pull his leg up and is used to tri-podding along when needed, but it is recommended for Henry to be walked on soft ground as often as possible.

Rescue story: Darling Henry has been found in the same forest near Modrica as Lucy with her pups. He was found with his hind paw missing which must have been an old injury which had healed a long time ago. We don't even want to think about what this poor dog has gone through. Yet he remained very happy and friendly and willing to give life and all it holds a chance. A wonderful dog!

Ideal Home: Henry will need a settled and sympathetic home in a rural or semi rural location. He is not used to town life and enjoys the countryside very much. Henry adores other dogs and would love to live with another dog for company, as a playmate and role model. As we are unsure of Henry's history his adopters need to be prepared to introduce him to the outside world as we know it gradually. Once Henry has settled in with you, he will be your loyal companion for life. Henry is just a super doggy.

Vetting process applies. Meet & Greet will gladly be arranged after the application was approved.
