KOKO
*RESERVED* FOR  ADOPTION in CORNWALL/DEVON

KOKO - Cross Breed (Possible Vizsla Cross)

FOR ADOPTION IN CORNWALL/DEVON

Koko’s name was inspired by the rich colour of cocoa and it suits her so very well. We call her Gangle-Pup as she is still so much a puppy. Gangly, fun and life is just a huge game for her. She’s amazing and very smart!

Size: 40cm approx shoulder height

Sex: female

Age: 8 months approx (April 23)

Neutered: yes

Vaccinated: yes

Microchipped: yes

Child friendly:
yes, but best older children 10+ due to Koko’s boisterous ways. The children need to be dog savvy and know how to respect a dog's boundaries.

Dog friendly: yes, but her playing and puppy naughtiness can be a bit overwhelming for some dogs. She has been told off by Kaya here and was very submissive. Koko is just a trier but not a fighter at all. If she lived with another dog it would have to be the right dog in the hands of an experienced owner who can handle her and enjoys a bit of wild play too.

Cat friendly: Koko has had contact with cats (who were used to dogs) in Bosnia and she was ok with them, we don't know how she would be with other cats and cannot cat test her here. It would not surprise us if she would chase just for the fun of it.

House Trained: not tested in a home environment, but she is clean in the space she lives in here.

Behaviour/Temperament/Unique traits/ Training needs:

At this moment Koko is a very young, super active and strong headed dog. She is mega friendly and submissive, but can be overwhelming with her plays and puppy naughtiness. These are things that will fade away as she grows older and as she learns boundaries plus general obedience for which she needs training.

Like the other new dogs Koko will need to get used to life in the UK as we know it and this will be a new experience for her. Sadly her arrangements fell through and she is in emergency accommodation which means she can’t be assessed in home life as we know it right now. In our opinion she will be fine and adjust super fast, even though she will be super excited about her new surroundings too.

Koko will need slow introducing to the outside world as we know it. She will adopt quickly and is up for adventure. However, her new adopters must not overwhelm her and rather take it slow than rush anything.

In essence, Koko is a super lively and very friendly affectionate pup. In her mind the world is all about her hehe. She can be ‘all over the place’ and needs a lot of training to teach her focus. She is smart and learns fast. Being a hunting breed cross she loves to sniff and sniffer games would be great fun for her. She is a lot of fun and makes us laugh every day with her antics. Koko needs a fair bit of training and guidance, but will be a super loyal dog to the person/family who take her into their hearts and home. We thinks she is a Hungarian Vizsla cross and they have super temperaments.

Blood tested/Health: Has tested negative for Brucellosis, Leishmans, Heartworm, Lyme Disease, Anaplasmosis, Ehrlichia and passed her general pre-travel health check. Has been health checked by our vet and received antibiotics to help with the final healing of her spaying wound. She had a bit of a cough for a few days after she arrived which has now passed.

Rescue story: Found as a stray with a broken leg. This has healed now but the bone did not heal quite straight which does not hold her back at all.

Ideal Home: She would suit an active and experienced person/family who has lots of time to give to Koko. Ideally not in a busy city or town situation. A good size grassed garden would be essential. Koko has not had an easy start in life where the trauma of abandonment and pain were no stranger to her. As a new dog from overseas who has not yet been assessed in UK home life, she needs a calm and sympathetic home without many expectations or pressures on her. Her new family needs to be able to adjust around her needs for the first weeks and months and not expect her to fit into a life she has never known. She needs commitment to training on a daily basis to make her the best she can be. Koko is very smart and eager to learn and please. She responds well to praise and treats for positive reinforcement training.

Vetting process applies. Meet & Greet will gladly be arranged after the application was approved.
