Maggie’s story is not an unusual one for a dog born in the Balkans. Her rescue story began a few years ago. Maggie was found as a stray in Derventa. Like a lot of strays she was unwelcome and always at risk of not living to see the next dawn. This is sadly the harsh reality for bosnian strays.

In Maggie’s case it was pretty clear that she sadly did not have a happy life before she was rescued. It is unfortunately still common practice that a dog’s life starts and ends at the end of an often far too short chain. This must have been the case for poor Maggie. We will never know whether she was abandoned or managed to escape her ordeal, but what we do know is that when Bojan was called to ‘remove a dog’ he noticed a chain scar around Maggie’s neck which told its own very sad story. Maggie was taken to safety in the Bark Ark Rescue Shelter where her basic needs for food and care were met and she was finally safe. But because of her quiet nature Maggie seems to disappear into the crowd of other dogs. This darling soul didn’t have much luck or love in her life and has been in the shelter now for almost 3 years. A very long time for any dog.

When Bojan showed us Maggie our hearts just crumbled. What a dear dog! How could we say no to her?! All we want is to make her happy and give her the chance to experience the fun and joys of being a carefree doggy. Make her feel wanted and truly loved for the first time in her life. So we stepped up and agreed to help Maggie find her very own forever home. She will join us here in Cornwall as soon as logistics and resources allow. Maggie will be looking for her home in Cornwall/Devon.

If you would like to be part of Maggie’s journey to a happy future, please consider helping her with your kind donation. If you can please leave 'MAGGIE' as a reference so we can allocate your donation for this darling girl.

Thank you so much for reading Maggie’s story. She thanks you with love and a little nose nuzzle ♥
