ARRIVING IN CORNWALL 20TH/21ST MARCH

These gorgeous dogs are all in need of a home, either forever home or foster to prepare them for adoption. Cornwall/Devon only please.

They are very deserving rescue dogs from the Bark Ark Shelter in Bosnia.

Our overseas dogs would have all tested negative for Brucellosis Canis, Leishmans, Lyme Disease, Ehrlichia, Anaplasmosis, Heartworm and will have been signed off as ' healthy and fit for travel' by a Bosnian vet before boarding the freedom bus.

Once over here the dogs will be seen by a UK vet for a general health check.

Photos and profile assessment are based on information we have been given from the rescue shelter.

Whether you are fostering or adopting you will need to give your dog the time, understanding and patience he/she needs to adjust and recover from the trauma of the journey. You will need to follow our guidelines to make the process the least stressful for your new overseas rescue dog as you possibly can. This is only temporary and not forever, but absolutely crucial in the initial 3 weeks at least.

Our motto:
There is NEVER a 'too slow' and EASILY a 'too fast' which will show consequences in the days and weeks after even though initially it may not be obvious.

BOSNIAN MARCH DOGS 2023

DOROTEA  - Mixed Breed

Size: 35cm approx shoulder height
Sex: female
Age: 5 years approx (March 23)
Neutered: yes
Vaccinated: yes
Microchipped: yes
Child friendly: yes, age 6+ dog savvy children only who know how to respect a dog's boundaries

Dog friendly: yes
Cat friendly: Has had contact with cats (who were used to dogs) in Bosnia and she was ok with them, we don't know how she would be with other cats.
Behaviour/Temperament/Unique traits/ Training needs:

Cheerful, cuddly, good with everyone. Great indoors. Does not destroy or mess. She loves a really soft bed. Will benefit from general training and getting used to UK life as we know it which will be new to her

House trained: yes. is very clean where she is.
Blood tested/Health: Will only travel if tested negative for Brucellosis, Leishmans, Heartworm, Lyme Disease, Anaplasmosis, Ehrlichia and passed her general pre-travel health check.

Rescue story: Found as a stray with an old injury to her pelvis. This has healed and she is fine now. Thanks to a kind and generous sponsor, Dorotea has been moved from the Bark Ark rescue shelter to a doggy pension in Serbia where life is more comfortable for her.

Ideal Home: This girl will suit a loving home, ideally not in the middle of a town or city. Dorotea has not had an easy life and trauma of abandonment and pain is no stranger to her. She has also just experienced the trauma of travel and the major changes that go with the process in only a very short time. As a new dog from overseas who has not yet been assessed in UK life, she needs a calm and sympathetic home without many expectations or pressures on this darling girl. Her new family needs to be able to adjust around her needs for the first weeks and months and not expect her to fit into a life she has never known.

Vetting process applies. Meet & Greet will gladly be arranged after the application was approved.

KOKO  - Mixed Breed

Size: 40cm approx shoulder height
Sex: female
Age: 8 months approx (March 23)
Neutered: yes
Vaccinated: yes
Microchipped: yes
Child friendly: yes, age 10+ dog savvy children only who know how to respect a dog's boundaries and who can take the play ways of a strong boisterous pup like Koko who would be too much for young children.

Dog friendly: yes, but her playing and puppy naughtiness can be a bit overwhelming for some dogs and if she lived with another dog it would have to be the right dog who can handle her and enjoys a bit of wild play too.
Cat friendly: Has had contact with cats (who were used to dogs) in Bosnia and she was ok with them, we don't know how she would be with other cats.
Behaviour/Temperament/Unique traits/ Training needs:

At this moment Koko is a very young, super active and strong headed dog. She is mega friendly and submissive but can be overwhelming with her plays and puppy naughtiness. These are things that will fade away as she grows older and learns boundaries and general obedience for which she needs training. Like the other new dogs Koko will need to get used to life in the UK as we know it and this will be a new experience for her.

House trained: not tested.
Blood tested/Health: Will only travel if tested negative for Brucellosis, Leishmans, Heartworm, Lyme Disease, Anaplasmosis, Ehrlichia and passed her general pre-travel health check.

Rescue story: Found as a stray with a broken leg. This has healed now but the bone did not heal quite straight which does not hold her back at all. She is staying at the shelter owner's home where she shares an outbuilding with other dogs.

Ideal Home: She would suit an active and experienced family who has lots of time to give to Koko. Ideally not in a busy city or town situation. A good size garden would be essential. Koko has not had an easy life and trauma of abandonment and pain is no stranger to her as she would have had her share of abuse while still on the streets. Koko will have also just experienced the trauma of travel and the major changes that go with the process in only a very short time. As a new dog from overseas who has not yet been assessed in UK life, she needs a calm and sympathetic home without many expectations or pressures on her. Her new family needs to be able to adjust around her needs for the first weeks and months and not expect her to fit into a life she has never known.

Microchipped: yes
Child friendly: yes, age 8+ dog savvy children only who know how to respect a dog's boundaries.

Dog friendly: yes and backs off when another dog snaps at her (see video)
Cat friendly: No! She does chase cats.
Behaviour/Temperament/Unique traits/ Training needs:

Kaya is very very friendly to humans and other dogs, and very submissive. She is a very smart and highly trainable dog with lots of energy and endurance. Kaya would fit great with an active family who love the outdoors and long walks.

Kaya displays a quirky behaviour where she attacks her back legs if there is a dish of food in sight and once she starts eating she stops.

House trained: not tested.
Blood tested/Health: Will only travel if tested negative for Brucellosis, Leishmans, Heartworm, Lyme Disease, Anaplasmosis, Ehrlichia and passed her general pre-travel health check.

Kaya has had her share of cruelty, abandonment and pain while still on the streets. She will have also just experienced the trauma of travel and the major changes that go with the process in only a very short time.
