SPICE  -  Posavac Hound Crossbreed

This gorgeous girl here is SPICE. She was rescued as a stray and is of very friendly and kind nature. When she was found she had a litter of puppies around her which you can see in the video. Spice had been in the Bark Ark shelter in Bosnia for a few months where she received the much needed nutrition to gain weight before her journey to the UK. She arrived on the last day in April and has been home fostered in Cornwall since.

Size:  45-50 cm approx shoulder height
Sex:  female
Age:  2-3 years approx, but could be younger
Neutered:  yes
Vaccinated:  yes
Microchipped: yes
Child friendly: yes, but would prefer a home that’s either child free or with children 6 years and older
Dog friendly:  yes, when she was out on the moors Spice wants to play with nearly all the dogs she meets. needs time though before bringing visiting dogs into the home as a bit snarly with dogs coming into her domain at this point showing that Spice needs to decompress more and build trust in her new people and environment.
Cat friendly: yes, she lived with cats in Bosnia, In UK foster shown a tendency to chase cats outdoors.
Temperament: active, playful, kind and affectionate. lovely temperament towards dogs and people alike but nervous/wary of men with walking sticks. Good behaviour on the whole but being a hound cross Spice has a bit of a chase instinct. Not tried and tested really with sheep but would chase young foals in order to play as she thinks they are dogs. Also loves to snuggle up and have lots of cuddles.
Does not food guard and foster mum leaves a bowl of Bakers down all the time for her and the resident dog to eat as and when. Not particularly food motivated.
Behaviour/Training needs: There are some training needs around recall and coming back but she is a quick learner. Very biddable and eager to please. Likes to be praised and reassured.
House trained:  yes, only had one initial accident when she first arrived
Blood tested:  tested negative for Brucella Canis, Leishmans, Heartworm, Ehrlichia, Anaplasmosis and Lyme disease and passed her general health check in Bosnia before transport and also here in the UK at our clinic.

Location: Cornwall

Ideal Home: a rural or semi rural location with a secure garden with a family or fairly active people who have the time to give to Spice and who like to walk and do activities that Spice can share in.

If you would like to apply for giving Spice her forever home, please complete our application form below as a first step. But please bear in mind that I am advertised on other sites too and we hope that you understand that there may be more than one application to her name by the time you have completed yours.

Please enjoy Spice's photos and videos below. They show her when rescued and some at Paws2Freedom during her time in home foster.

If you would like to support dogs like Spice we would be ever so grateful. Your donation will help so much and every penny counts. Rescuing dogs from the Bark Ark shelter is a big rescue mission for such a small charity and we can't do it without you. If you could mark your kind giving with ‘Bosnian Dogs’ your funds will be put towards my costs or that of another dog like Spice.

Thank you so much from my happy heart and gorgeous paws ~ Love, Spice ♥
