TORI (short for Victoria Sponge Cake)
UNDER BEHAVIOUR REHABILITATION
Tori will be looking for her forever home in Cornwall/Devon once she is ready or if a suitable very special home can be found, sooner
CHARLIE, TRI COLOURED FEMALE BORDER COLLIE
Size: medium, petite collie
Sex: female
Age: 3
Neutered: yes
Vaccinated: yes
Microchipped: yes
Temperament: Charlie is great with other dogs. She hardly barks in the house at all. She can be left for 4 - 5 hours and she is crate trained. She finds it hard to settle in a busy house at first, so needs encouragement to lie down and a calm area away from people or she’ll go and go and go! She is getting really good at ignoring cars, but her adopters will need to keep helping her with that. She’s easy to train and eager to learn. Charlie's recall is amazing. She’s great with people and older children. She’s a kind, friendly, easy dog who loves a cuddle, a tennis ball and a walk! She is not a fussy eater. She’s great in the car.
Favourites: Just going for a walk in open spaces where she can run and explore. The joy she has in putting her harness on is lush!
Child friendly: older children in their teens and late teens who respect a dog's boundaries and don't overwhelm her.
Dog friendly: yes
Cat friendly: uncertain, she does not pay much attention to cats we see out on walks, nor other animals for that matter
Behaviour/Training needs:
She pulls on the lead! But it’s manageable, she’s still walkable. It’s unfortunately not her strong point.
Housetrained: yes
Bloodtested: has had general blood test before spaying which was absolutely fine and she passed her general health check when we took Charlie to be vaccinated and wormed
Current Location: Launceston
Ideal Home:
Charlie's ideal home would be in a rural or semi rural location with someone who has a bit of land for her to enjoy or the time and life style to put Charlie into their car and take her to the beach, downs or other open spaces where she can run around in and explore. She would not be happy living in a town. Her perfect life would be in an active home as a pet dog rather than a working collie.
Charlie's Story:
Charlie, a beautiful tri coloured smooth coated border collie, was bought as a pup and grew up in the heart of Launceston where her previous family sadly did not get her used to traffic or socialize her much at all. This unfortunately resulted in a variety of issues as she got older. Charlie came to us very unruly and knew virtually nothing, but surprisingly had a home offer almost straight away. Sadly this did not work out and she came back to us a few weeks later due to some problems which came to light during Charlie's stay in her new home.
Here at P2F she got vet checked and spayed. We enjoyed having her here and working with her. We introduced her to other dogs and she became much more confident around them. She was with us a few months until the amazing opportunity came up to put her into the care of a wonderful border collie enthusiast/trainer we know who would be able to work with Charlie even more. Charlie spent time in kennels initially and progressed into home life to which she is now used to and loves. One of her issues was her reaction to traffic which was quite extreme. She is now much better, but not totally at ease with traffic yet. If required her adopters would have to work with her on this further.
Charlie is a super dog and we love her to bits. She deserves a wonderful special home with the perfect person/people for her where she can blossom even more than she already has. We are looking for a home for Charlie in our area of Cornwall/Devon. An experienced and realistic home who can give this energetic dog what she needs to keep her happy. Charlie needs someone with sufficient time, commitment, space and preferably someone with collie experience.
Please don't hesitate to get in touch if you feel that Charlie is the dog for you. Our standard vetting process and adoption donation apply if you would like to adopt Charlie.
If you would like to sponsor Charlie until adoption, your kind donation would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you so much for your support ~ Love, from Charlie and P2F ♥
